    Please note, that with very few exceptions soft magnetic alloys, and in particular finished parts, need to be treated with a thermal annealing to obtain the desired magnetic properties.

Properties of material

50 % CoFe-alloys (VACOFLUX® and VACODUR®) are the first choice for applications with demands concerning high magnetic flux densities (e.g. in flux concentrators, flux conductors). They are in particular suited for magnetic shieldings against strong fields, for magnetic yokes (for example in particle accelerators) and for motors and generators, where a maximum torque at a small volume is necessary. CoFe-alloys are brittle by nature and tend to “crumble” slightly if milled/turned. The correct thermal annealing is very important for the family of CoFe alloys. If not done properly the magnetic parameters will be significantly worse than the typical alloy data.  VACOFLUX® is a versatile alloy with a broad spectrum of use, while VACODUR® allows to apply different thermal treatments, one optimizing the mechanical properties (with still superior magnetic properties) while the other generates optimal magnetic properties. This makes this alloy very useful for motor applications: The mechanically burdened rotor usually receives the mechanical annealing and stator the magnetic annealing treatment. Nevertheless both lamination types can be stamped or lasercut from one sheet of material, minimizing material losses!
